Want to Enhance Your Leadership Skills This Summer?
Transitions are Important
“Transition means change, a passage from one style, form, state, or from one place to another.”
Pat Wesley
Everyone experiences transitions throughout their lives. They can be both exciting and concerning. Transition into kindergarten is one such transition. Both children and their families are often thrilled with the move to “big school” and frightened at the same time. However, planning ahead can help. With adequate preparation, transitions can be managed with minimal stress. Planning ahead helps ensure that children experience a positive adjustment to school, that families acquire a positive outlook for the upcoming school year, and that teachers are better able to meet the needs of all their students. Volunteer Makeover
It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we do not want it to go by without letting you know how much we appreciate all you do! To highlight the importance of PTA volunteers, we want you to nominate your favorite volunteer parent or teacher. NCPTA will select one deserving nominee to receive the “star treatment!”
One lucky volunteer will be chosen to enjoy a day in Raleigh where we will capture their story on video and treat them to a free hair + makeup makeover by Dawn Bender Carrington, stylist and owner of Glam Lounge in Raleigh. Dawn, who competes internationally and has worked with celebrities including Katherine Heigl, is volunteering her time to give one special volunteer that extra special celebrity treatment in preparation for our video spotlight on one great PTA volunteer!
Volunteers, we appreciate all you do each day for children across North Carolina! NCPTA will select the winner by April 29, so go ahead and nominate your top volunteer now by telling us why they are so deserving in the comment section below. Visit Dawn’s website at http://www.glamhaircare.com/#!__celebrities
Parent Leadership Certificate Modules Live
The first three modules for the NCPTA/NCVPS Parent Leadership Certificate are now live in the NCVPS Blackboard classroom. Parents will need to submit a request for user name into the course management system (Blackboard) by filling out this form. Once we receive your request, we will contact you via email with your login information and additional information on how to access the modules and navigate within the course environment. This may take up to 48 hours as we have a large user name request database. Thank you for your interest in the NCPTA Parent Leaders Online Program!
